Meet the K9 Cancer Goose

The LCHRC donated the Goose, an outstanding lifelike goose decoy produced by Master Decoy Maker, Dave Smith. At the LCHRC hunt test auction, the high bidder won the honor of having a goose band engraved with their name and placed on the leg of the goose, plus a 2nd band for their whistle lanyard. The winner then chose the Olympic Rainshadow HRC’s fall hunt test as the venue for the Goose’s 2nd auction. In turn, the winning bidder at that hunt test was then able to name the next hunt test for the 3rd auction of the K9 Cancer Goose. The Goose’s 4th appearance will be at the Fall Grand. The high bidder at the Grand will then choose which hunt test venue the K9 Goose next appear as it makes its way from the Pacific Northwest, to the Grand in Georgia, and to new points across the continent.
For the Goose’s 1st three auctions, several thousand dollars have been generously donated, all of which will be used to support canine cancer research funded by The American College of Veterinary Internal Medicine (ACVIM) Foundation (www.chaseawayk9cancer.org). The research funded is primarily K9 cancer research, but the new knowledge derived is generously shared with researchers studying cancer in humans as well. This is an opportunity to have an impact on both our dog’s health and the people we care for.
Keep an eye out for the K9 Cancer Goose at the Fall Grand. We hope that the same generosity continues to follows the Goose and that you have an opportunity to add your name to a leg band in the effort to benefit the health of our most trusted hunting companions.
